Aschbach, July 2015
Reminiscent of its historical strength in the alcove sector, Concorde is presenting a completely new range of luxurious alcove models weighing less than 7.5 tons in the Cruiser series for the 2016 season under the motto "back to the roots". The new standard Cruiser models are exclusively based on Iveco chassis: one being the Iveco Daily 60C15, with the Iveco Eurocargo 75 E19 as an alternative. There are four models: two two-people and two family layouts on the Iveco Daily chassis, and two models designed for families on the Iveco Eurocargo chassis. Apart from interesting new floor plan concepts, including a circular seating group that has been rotated by 90 degrees at the rear, particularly noteworthy features include the single beds fitted in the alcoves of two Cruiser models (791 RL / 890 RRL). Measuring 80 centimetres, the inside height of the alcove is unparalleled and access to the bed is particularly easy, thanks to a convenient pedestal with two steps.
Three established Cruiser models based on the Mercedes Atego chassis are still available, even if they are somewhat weightier (more than 7.5 tons gross vehicle weight).
Concorde's Cruiser alcove models have ranked among the successful exceptions in the high end motorhome sector for many years. And Concorde is now launching a completely new alcove variant onto the market: a luxurious Cruiser weighing less than 7.5 tons, exclusively based on Iveco chassis.
Four of the new standard Cruiser models are based on the high-performance, comfortable Iveco Daily 60C15 chassis, which is powered by a 107 kW (146 PS) turbo-diesel engine and has rear-wheel drive and twin tyres. The 65C and 70C chassis with the C17 and C21 engine variants are available as options. The most powerful Cruiser is equipped with a 151 kW (205 PS) engine. The 6-gear manual transmission may be replaced by an optional ZF automatic transmission. Air suspension for the rear axle is also available as an option. The 75E19 engine, which is standard equipment for two models based on the Eurocargo chassis, produces 137 kW (186 PS) and the 75E21 with 155 kW (210 PS) is available as an option.
Four models are based on the Iveco Daily.
The Cruiser 791 RL and the 890 RRL are the ideal choice of vehicle for two people: the 791 RL with classical circular seating group at the rear and spacious bathroom, and the 890 RRL with a completely new circular seating group (rotated by 90 degrees) at the rear, an exclusive spacious kitchen, a premium bathroom and an optional media panel with 32-inch LED TV and a large garage.
Made of a sandwich construction with GRP elements, the alcove of the new Iveco-based Cruiser offers an impressive 80 centimetres of headroom and is virtually unrecognisable as an alcove. It rather gives the impression of entering an elevated bedroom, particularly in the light of the fact that it is accessed easily via a pull-out, two-step pedestal rather than a ladder. While models 891 L and 891 HS are equipped with transverse beds, single beds are fitted in the alcoves of the 791 L and the 890 RRL. A unique sleeping experience.
The new 890 RRL layout is bound to cause a stir with its circular seating group rotated by 90 degrees at the rear. That is because this constellation communicates the currently popular (home) lifestyle of combining kitchen and living area for the first time in a motorhome. The generously dimensioned L-shaped kitchen is extremely conducive in this respect. Installed at a perfect viewing angle from the seating group, the (optional) media panel with 32-inch LED TV with sound system on both sides is in a class of its own.
There is plenty of room in the family-oriented layouts too, such as the Cruiser 891 L, with transverse alcove bed, lengthwise beds at the rear, spacious bathroom and a choice of standard or circular seating group, and the Cruiser 891 HS with transverse beds in the alcove and at the rear, two additional wardrobes, spacious bathroom and a choice of circular or standard seating group.
Two models based on the Iveco Eurocargo are suitable for families
The Cruiser 894 L has a transverse bed in the alcove, single lengthwise beds at the rear, spacious bathroom with separate toilet and a choice of standard or circular seating group. Apart from the transverse alcove bed, the Cruiser 894 HS offers a transverse bed at the rear, two additional wardrobes, a spacious bathroom with separate toilet and a choice of circular or standard seating group. The alcove in these models is 75 centimetres high.
The interior furniture offered as standard in all of the new models has a Wenge wood finish with brilliant cream/white front panels on the overhead wall units. A Noce wood finish with cream/white high gloss Senosan front panels on the overhead wall units is available as an option. The flaps and doors are foil-coated.
The Cruiser enjoys all of the benefits of the lightweight construction concept in the kitchen as well, including the mineral composite worktop with an integrated round, stainless steel sink. A kitchen resplendent in brilliant white, with generously dimensioned work surface, rugged (drawer) design and the same high level of functionality as all Concorde models.
The basic price amounts to € 135,500 with Iveco Daily chassis and € 168,500 with Eurocargo chassis.
Time-tested Cruiser based on Mercedes Atego still part of the range
Apart from the new variants described above, the product range continues to include the three Cruiser models 890 L, 940 M and 990 G (with garage for a Smart), each with a redesigned alcove, based on the Mercedes Atego chassis with weighty features: the Atego chassis spectrum ranges from version 923 L to 1230 L (with air suspension on the front axle) with 220 kW (290 PS) maximum engine power.
The interior furniture offered as standard has veneered doors and flaps with a Wenge wood finish. The furniture is also available in Noce wood finish with cream/white high gloss Senosan front panels on the overhead wall units as an option.
The standard features set new technical standards in the luxury alcove class and include the following: differential lock, ABS, TCS, cruise control, tinted windscreen, heated raised floor, fresh and waste-water tanks, each with 320 litres capacity, in the heated raised floor, 2-zone room heating and 2-zone underfloor heating, engine heat exchanger, gel batteries (2 x 170 Ah and a 60 A combination charging unit with power inverter, 3000 W peak and 1600 W continuous output.
The Cruiser alcove motorhome starts at a basic price of € 227,900. The current Cruiser models are being presented on the Concorde stand at the Caravan Salon in Dusseldorf between 29 August and 6 September 2015 (Stand B32, Hall 14)
