Mobile travel embodies freedom, adventure and the chance to discover the world on your own terms. It is a lifestyle that combines independence with a love of nature and is inspiring more and more people. Whether you’re already living the caravanning lifestyle or want to discover it for yourself, at CARAVAN SALON in Düsseldorf from 28 August (Preview Day) to 6 September 2026, you’ll find the full diversity of this fascinating world – in one place and on a scale that is unique.
For ten days, Düsseldorf will once again become the global hotspot for caravanning. More than 750 exhibitors will present the latest caravans, motorhomes and campervans – from compact entry-level models to luxurious premium vehicles. The range is complemented by an impressive selection of accessories, technical equipment, conversion solutions, roof tents, mobile homes, and camping and caravanning supplies. In addition, attractive travel destinations, campsites and motorhome sites will inspire visitors to embark on new adventures. At the same time, CARAVAN SALON is further expanding its role as the most important international platform for trade visitors and has tailored the B2B conference programme even more closely to the target audience.
The world of mobile travel in one place
“Messe Düsseldorf and the Caravaning Industry Association (CIVD) are looking forward to the 65th CARAVAN SALON with great confidence. Especially at a time marked by so many changes and uncertainties, the longing for freedom, independence and personalised travel experiences is becoming increasingly important. Caravanning embodies precisely these values – and CARAVAN SALON is the place where they come to life,” says Director Stefan Koschke. “In Düsseldorf, our visitors can discover the world’s largest selection of brands, vehicles and layouts. After all, the decision to buy a motorhome or caravan is made where you step inside the vehicles, feel the materials, compare layout concepts and receive personal advice. This unique quality of experience makes CARAVAN SALON the industry’s most important decision-making platform. This is where the full fascination of mobile travel comes to life.
For Daniel Onggowinarso, Managing Director of the Caravaning Industry Association (CIVD), the growing enthusiasm for caravanning is closely linked to the strengths of this form of holiday: “Caravanning has been one of the most successful and dynamic segments of the tourism industry for many years. The crises of recent years have made one thing particularly clear: the strengths of mobile holidays are ideally suited to the demands of our time. In a world characterised by economic uncertainty, geopolitical tensions and rising costs, flexibility and predictability are becoming increasingly important when deciding on a holiday. This is precisely what caravanning has always stood for. Those who travel by motorhome or caravan can tailor their destinations and the duration of their trips to their individual needs, react spontaneously to changes and reliably calculate their own travel costs. The fact that caravanning has been attracting more people for years is evident not least at CARAVAN SALON. As the world’s largest and most important trade fair for the caravanning industry, it impressively demonstrates the enormous significance caravanning holds today for the tourism landscape in Germany, Europe and beyond.”
The leading B2B platform for the caravanning industry
CARAVAN SALON is constantly developing its trade and conference programme, consistently tailoring its content to the industry’s current and future challenges. In doing so, the world’s largest caravanning trade fair is strengthening its role as a central platform for professional exchange between industry, tourism, politics and infrastructure partners.
From 31 August to 2 September, the tourism trade programme will centre on the ‘Destination Future’ conference series, organised by Messe Düsseldorf in collaboration with the CIVD. The focus will be on the potential of caravanning, camping and outdoor tourism for destinations, tourism organisations and infrastructure operators. In various conference and networking formats, industry experts, political decision-makers, academics and tourism professionals will discuss current developments, innovative concepts and forward-looking strategies for the sustainable development of mobile travel.
The topics range from infrastructure and technology to the economic significance of caravanning tourism for regions, as well as issues relating to destination development, digitalisation and sustainability. In addition, other specialist events will address current trends in the fields of outdoor activities, active tourism and leisure mobility. These include, among others, the ‘Young Hiking’ initiative, which, with the support of the German Hiking Association, highlights new target groups and developments in hiking tourism. The programme is complemented by numerous specialist events, working groups and committee meetings organised by the CIVD. This means that, in 2026, CARAVAN SALON will once again be the central meeting place for the international caravanning industry and an important forum for dialogue on the future of mobile travel.
Showcase site demonstrates solutions for modern parking infrastructure
The CIVD showcase site in the outdoor area between Halls 10 and 17 provides a practical demonstration of the latest concepts and technical solutions for motorhome parking spaces. Operators, local authorities and tourism officials can gain valuable insights on site and discuss sustainable infrastructure concepts directly with experts.
New themed zones: Off-road and roof tent hub
To make it even easier for visitors to find their way around the extensive range on offer, CARAVAN SALON is continuously refining its hall and theme structure. New, clearly defined experience zones provide greater clarity and allow targeted access to the latest trends and innovations. There is a particular focus on the new off-road area in Halls 16 and 17. Here, off-road motorhomes and caravans, as well as solutions for particularly self-sufficient travel, are presented together. Also new is the dedicated roof tent area in Hall 7a, which picks up on the ongoing trend towards flexible and compact forms of travel and showcases a wide range of innovative products. The established themed areas Equipment & Outdoor (Hall 3), Travel & Nature (Hall 7) and Technology & Components (Halls 13 and 14) remain in their tried-and-tested locations and continue to ensure a clear and well-organised exhibition structure.
Experiences for the whole family
In 2026, CARAVAN SALON will once again offer a varied supporting programme for caravanning enthusiasts of all ages. In the Dream Tours Cinema, experienced travellers will take visitors on fascinating journeys around the globe, providing inspiration for their next mobile adventure.
A special experience also awaits guests at the evening events on the exhibition grounds. On several days, the focus will be on travel, outdoor and adventure stories. The highlight of the programme is the European Outdoor Film Tour (EOFT), which will delight visitors on the second Friday with spectacular films and extraordinary stories from explorers, adventurers and outdoor sports enthusiasts.
For the youngest guests, the AdventureCamp offers a colourful programme of activities on both weekends, featuring games, exercise and exciting activities. The programme is complemented by the children’s rally organised by the German Hiking Association. At a variety of interactive stations, young explorers can put their skills to the test and set off on an exciting tour of the exhibition grounds with their rally pass – an experience for the whole family.
StarterWelt: The perfect introduction to the world of mobile travel
In 2026, StarterWelt will once again be the central hub for newcomers to caravanning, located in the area between Halls 5 and 9. Here, prospective buyers can find valuable guidance and support in their search for the right vehicle. Vehicle models presented in a clear and accessible way provide a comprehensive overview of the various caravanning concepts. Whether caravans, motorhomes, semi-integrated or fully integrated models – independent experts will be on hand to offer advice and answer questions about equipment, usage and the respective advantages of each vehicle type.
There is a particular focus on the topic of caravan combinations. Using a practical demonstration of a towing vehicle and caravan combination, visitors gain insights into coupling and uncoupling, as well as key basics for safe driving with a caravan. Experts clearly demonstrate what matters in practice and help to overcome any initial reservations. This makes it clear that getting started with caravan travel is often easier than many interested parties initially assume.
In addition, StarterWelt offers an informative stage programme featuring short talks, interviews and practical tips on choosing a vehicle, technology, hire and getting started in the world of mobile travel.
The DIY Self-conversion Adventure with inspiration

It’s not just finished conversions on display here – DIY enthusiasts can experience first-hand how DIY conversion works in practice. Using a former delivery van, experts will demonstrate various work steps and conversion techniques right on the spot – from interior fittings and technical components to practical solutions for everyday life on the road. This gives those interested valuable insights into the planning and implementation of their own conversion project.
