Wild days

WILD DAYS tells the story of their quest for true wilderness—a journey that tests body, mind, and friendship, stretching time and lifting the spirit in the way only a great adventure can.

Elladj

Elladj Baldé came so close to realizing his Olympic dream. As a person of color in the oh-so-white world of figure skating, the Canadian made it almost all the way to the top. But what do you do when your plan doesn’t work out? Elladj grabs his skates and—far from scoreboards and competitions—heads into the Canadian wilderness where he discovers a dream made manifest that feeds his soul: wild ice.

6:36 p.m.

Freyas Back

Early in the alpine season of 2024, all-round climber Freja Shannon suffers a serious fall on the North Face of Les Droites in the French Alps, resulting in a broken back. Despite a grim prognosis, Freja fights her way back with surprising speed—first on her feet, then on the rock. Joined by her climbing partner Ariane Moreau, Freja attempts to ascend Ave Ceasar, a pristine 7c trad route on the spectacular Petit Clocher du Portalet (2,623 m) in the Swiss Alps.

6:54 p.m.

Drop the line

In his youth, Anthony Dutruy skied the lines on the Junior Freeride World Tour. After ending his competitive career, he sought a new challenge and found it in speed riding, which combines skiing and paragliding. It is not without risk, as it requires even more planning and consideration than freeriding. However, the sport quickly became his passion, and he now skis and flies down slopes that many skiing enthusiasts can only dream of.

7:00 p.m.

Gipfeli

Student Tobias Renggli would rather hop on his bike and lace up his hiking boots than study for exams. A sporty procrastination—especially when your goal is to cycle and hike through all 26 Swiss cantons to reach their highest points. But it’s not just about higher, faster, further; it's about enjoying summits and baked goods. Tobias is in search of the best gipfeli, a Swiss croissant and close to the German word for summit—Gipfel.

A local adventure with highs and lows, plenty of gipfelis, and a passion for the experience.

The Swiss version of the croissant is curved instead of straight and contains slightly less butter. As well as the classic butter croissant, there are many other varieties, such as chocolate, nut and seed-filled ones, as well as pretzel-flavoured ones and even a vegan version.
