Our many years of experience in the field of wheelbase extensions or shortening enables us to ideally adapt the wheelbase to the needs of the respective body in cooperation with the body manufacturer and in compliance with the body manufacturer guidelines. In the course of the wheelbase modifications, all lines and the drive train are adapted to the new conditions.

A fundamental component of our motorhome platform conversions is the seat substructure. Whether you need a double, novelty or dinette bench seat, a rotating driver's seat, passenger seat, bar seat or folding seat: we have substructure solutions for all these variants. A highlight is our movable double seat bench, which is necessary for slideout vehicles: here, when the slideout is extended, the double seat bench is also moved outwards without interrupting the power transmission to the frame.

Due to the higher position of the driver's cockpit, it is necessary to design the seat substructure in such a way that the forces introduced are transferred to the vehicle frame in accident situations. For this purpose, tensile tests according to ECE R14 are necessary to prove the safety of the components. We offer you everything from a single source for series production: from design to carrying out the tests and assembly.

We offer our tried-and-tested platform conversion, tested in accordance with ECE Directive R14, for many renowned body manufacturers. This basic conversion for all integrated models represents the original basis of the business division of Fahrzeugbau Meier GmbH. The term "platform conversion" describes the raising of the cab level as well as the shifting of the cab unit forward in the direction of travel. This means that only add-on parts remain from the original cab, such as the dashboard, the speedometer unit, the heating control unit or optionally the steering wheel (detachable steering wheel available for vehicles without airbag: Iveco Daily, MAN, Iveco Eurocargo, Mercedes-Benz Atego)


The platform conversion entered the luxury liner motorhome luxury class with its development in 2004. Its triumphal march has since revolutionised the segment - often copied, never equalled. The decisive advantages of the platform conversion were a decisive milestone in the evolution of chassis construction for motorhomes: isolation of the driver's cabin, weight savings and a clear seating position.

Advantages of the platform conversion:

Continuous living area floor without step to the driver's cab.
Compared to the standard cab, significantly improved heat and sound insulation thanks to insulated GRP moulding.
Improved all-round visibility due to raised, forward seating position.
Increased space available by moving the front seats apart.
Larger living space with the same vehicle length by shifting the driver's cab unit forward in the direction of travel.
Weight reduction compared to the original cab construction.
Optional use of swivel seat consoles to integrate the front seats into the living space.
More stable and easier connection of the motorhome body.

Company portrait

The Fahrzeugbau Meier GmbH was founded in 2001 by Hermann Meier. This has resulted in a company with more than 100 employees. Today, the company is managed by Hermann Meier and his two sons Matthias (commercial manager) and Alexander (operations manager).


2001 - Foundation of Fahrzeugbau Meier GmbH by Hermann Meier
2002 - son Alexander starts his apprenticeship in his parents' company
2003 - new type of driver's platform height adjustment through specially developed steel construction
2007 - new type of driver's platform height adjustment through specially developed steel construction
2008 - installation of 4-channel full air suspension and lift support systems for Iveco Daily
2009 - Introduction of a 170 litre plastic tank | new aluminium rims | special solutions for Iveco Daily | hydraulic lift support systems | son Alexander passes the examination to become a master craftsman and thus lays the foundation for the continuation of the company in the second generation
