THREE GENERATIONS, ONE PASSION
The three people on the RAPIDO logo represent the three generations of the ROUSSEAU family
60 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AND INNOVATION AT THE SERVICE OF THE SPIRIT OF ADVENTURE
RAPIDO was born from the creative spirit of Constant ROUSSEAU: in 1961, for his own holiday trip, he invents and builds a folding caravan made of linen cloth, mounted on a chassis. The rest of the year, it serves as a trailer. This innovative model is produced for 30 years: of the 35,000 folding caravans, half are sold abroad. Year after year, the folding caravan becomes more refined and fascinating. The ingenious model wins several awards, including 1st prize in the Lépine competition. In 1976, Pierre ROUSSEAU joins the company and works with his father. Very soon he thinks of developing motorhomes.
The first model left the factory in 1983: the Randonneur 410. After the death of his father, Pierre ROUSSEAU took over the management of the company in 1985. The year 1987 marks a real revolution for RAPIDO: The company launched a range of motorhomes, entering the market and shaking up the competition. At that time, RAPIDO built the semi-integrated (Series 7) and alcove models (Series 8), followed later by a fully integrated range (Series 9). In 2014, Nicolas ROUSSEAU, Pierre's son, joined the company, first as sales manager and now as CEO of the RAPIDO Group.
The passion for the product has passed on to the third generation.
A EUROPEAN GROUP, FRENCH KNOW-HOW, A FAMILY BUSINESS
RAPIDO has grown from a French quality brand into one of the leading European groups on the upmarket motorhome market. This reputation is mainly based on RAPIDO's commitment to quality and the expansion of the group with highly specialised brands from different segments of the recreational vehicle industry. Today, almost half of the production is exported. The RAPIDO Group grew steadily with the brands ESTEREL (1993), RAPIDHOME (1998), FLEURETTE (2005), ITINEO (launched in 2006), CAMPEREVE (2009), WESTFALIA (2010), DREAMER (2014), GIOTTILINE, STYLEVAN, WILDAX and recently ROADTREK in North America. Despite this international focus, RAPIDO remains a family business to this day and continues to cultivate the spirit of craftsmanship.
