With our numerous initiatives and campaigns, we are active throughout the year in increasing road safety on Düsseldorf's roads, informing people about risks in road traffic and reducing these risks through road safety education. In doing so, we work closely and trustfully with the police and the city of Düsseldorf and many other partners (including Rheinbahn AG, DEKRA).
It is frightening that in Düsseldorf in 2018, more than 3,000 people were injured in road traffic, more than 350 of them seriously, and more than 10 were killed. The number of accidents involving children (241, previous year: 237), senior citizens (1,157, previous year: 1,123), pedestrians (527, previous year: 498), cyclists (831, previous year: 889) and motorised two-wheelers (350, previous year: 376) is in some cases again showing a negative trend. These accident figures show all the more how important our local road safety work is. We as a road safety organisation must further intensify our efforts together with our partners and the citizens of our city in order to counteract this negative trend and minimise the consequences of accidents.
EVERY single one of you can avoid accidents (with sometimes dramatic consequences) if you have the right "know-how" at hand. On our pages you will find many useful tips on how to be "safe and mobile" in road traffic with us.
