Hans-Dieter Schmidt - Essingen
"Love perishes, acres endure"...it's been a few hundred years since this saying cost a woman in Essingen her head. Because she poisoned her unloved but rich husband, she was beheaded with a large axe as punishment. A replica of that axe now hangs on the wall of the village museum association, whose chairman is Hans-Dieter Schmid. These and many other exciting stories are told in the rooms of the house dating from 1700, where Schmidt spends many, many hours a year "creating" - voluntarily, of course.

Sylvia Häfner-Hutt - Remshalden
Home soil. This is the word that the young boss of the W. Häfner winery in Remshalden can use to best describe what the Rems Valley and this very special place high up in the vineyards mean to her. Here, at this little winegrower's house, there is a lot of home soil for Sylvia Häfner-Hutt, after all, some of her family's vineyards are located here. "I used to play up here as a child," she says. And when it came to planning her wedding twelve years ago, there was no question that she would say "I do" to her husband right here, at the branch office of the Remshalden registry office.

Hans-Joachim Stilz - Schorndorf
"Määh, möööhhh..." ....who stands up here on the 356-meter-high Grafenberg viewing platform above Schorndorf, it can happen since this year that the friendly bleating of woolly, disheveled sheep sounds back to him. "The sheep come here to eat the grass between the high vines - not the low ones, of course, or they would nibble them, too", Hans-Joachim Stilz says.

In addition to numerous municipal circular hiking trails, there are six excellent quality hiking trails, the Remstal hiking treasures, as well as the 215 km long Remstal trail. Cyclists also get their money's worth. In addition to many cycle tours, the 106 km long Remstal cycle path, which has been awarded 4 stars by the ADFC, invites you to explore the region. For those who want to experience the Rems up close, the new canoe route is recommended. In addition, the Rems Valley has over 200 bee-friendly flowering areas, which combine to form Germany's first bee route.
The Rems Valley also has a lot to offer in terms of culture: our 21 towns and communities entice visitors with historic town centres, attractive museums and a colourful selection of events, sights and leisure activities.
The image of the Remstal is also shaped by our "pleasure craftsmen". There is hardly a wine competition in which Remstal wineries do not land in the top positions - whether with fruity white wines or strong elegant red wines. The "Weintreff", where our "Wengerter" (winegrowers) present themselves together every year in February, has long ceased to be an insider tip. But also at numerous wine festivals or in a wine tavern you can "slurp" Remstaler wine. Without a doubt, the Remstal cuisine also enjoys a particularly good reputation. From star restaurants to country inns with home-style cooking, everything is on offer.
