DRY-STONE ROUTE: ES CAPDELLÀ – ESTELLENCS

Heritage sites on the route: The town of Es Capdellà, the public country estate of Galatzó, the ethnographic site of Es Tramuntanal, the grain store at Galatzó, the houses of Galatzó, the Sa Cometa spring, the lime kilns of Na Llaneres, the lime kilns of Comellar de Sa Cova Rotja, the ethnographic site linked to the charcoal industry of Ses Sínies, the Ses Sínies well, the naviform structure at Ses Sínies, the spring-fed water tank Sa Font des Poll, the charcoal kilns of Ses Volvetes, the mountain refuge of Sa Coma d'en Vidal, the estate of Son Fortuny, the town of Estellencs 

Description: This variation on the dry-stone route GR221 links the towns of Es Capdellà (Calvià) and Estellencs (Estellencs), crossing the public country estates of Galatzó (Calvià), La Coma d'en Vidal and Son Fortuny (Estellencs). Along the route the mountain range of Sierra de Tramuntana offers a wide range of scenery, alternating between farmland, reedbeds, verdant holm oaks and steep mountains, including the impressive Puig de Galatzó (1027 m) and La Mola de S'Esclop (926 m). Meanwhile, we can discover a varied ethnological and historical heritage, including a large number of constructions linked to agriculture and the exploitation of the woodland such as lime kilns, charcoal kilns and charcoal workers' huts, barracas de roter (small stone feudal farmers' huts) and so on, as well as other historical elements such as a granary used for storing the tithes and the "naviform" or boat-shaped dwelling of Ses Sínies, a Bronze-Age archaeological site.

PEGUERA - CAP ANDRITXOL

Description: This trail takes us from the town of Peguera to the defence tower of Cap Andritxol. The first part of the route follows Calle de Cala Fornells until it reaches the bays of the same name. From here on, the route follows a forest path among pine and wild olive trees until it reaches Caló des Monjo, a small, peaceful bay famous for being used as the setting for one of the scenes in the thriller Evil Under the Sun, directed by Guy Hamilton. The route continues on to the defence tower of Cap Andritxol, a building related to the control of the coast during the modern era when Mallorca was under constant attacks from pirates. From the tower we can enjoy views of the coast of Calvià and Camp de Mar.

Heritage sites on the route: The houses of Galatzó, the Sa Cometa spring, the lime kilns of Na Llaneres, the lime kilns of Comellar de Sa Cova Rotja, ethnographic site lnked to the charcoal industry at Ses Sínies, the Ses Sínies well, the viewpoint at Ses Sínies, the naviform structure at Ses Sínies, the spring-fed water tank Sa Font des Poll, the charcoal kilns at Ses Volvetes, the ethnographic site of S'Esclop, the ruins of the Caseta de Aragó. 

Description: A route that ascends from Ses Cases de Galatzó (181 m) to La Mola de S'Esclop (926 m), noteworthy for the rich variety of landscapes, natural and ethnographic features it offers. While on this route we can enjoy impressive views of the Galatzó valley, and from the peak of S'Esclop it is possible to appreciate the Sierra de Tramuntana mountain range in all its splendour. In terms of ethnographic sites, we can find a large number of examples of exploitation of the forest's resources to obtain vegetable charcoal by means of charcoal kilns, as well as charcoal miners' huts. Also noteworthy is the high number of native Balearic species that we can see on this route, such as cojinetes espinosos ("thorny cushions") and Balearic St. John's Wort. Moreover, this route is intimately related to the history of the area, since at the top of La Mola we find the "Caseta de N'Arago", the house of a French scientist who participated in work to determine the longitude of the Paris Meridian Line at the start of the 19th century.
